U.S. Stock-Index Futures Rise Before Durable Goods - 2009/12/24 20:57
Hello guys! Finally Xmas Eve is here, and markets will be open for a limited time (and closed tomorrow), so we have a narrow window to make a profit today before our Xmas celebrations
U.S. stock-index futures climbed, indicating the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index will gain for a fifth day, before reports that may provide further evidence the economy is recovering.
Orders for U.S. durable goods probably rose in November as improving sales prompted companies to boost stockpiles and invest, economists expect. Another report may show fewer Americans applied for jobless benefits last week.
Futures on the S&P 500 expiring in March added 0.3 percent to 1,118.5 as of 12:44 p.m. in London. Dow Jones Industrial Average Index futures gained 0.2 percent to 10,426. Nasdaq-100 Index futures increased 0.2 percent to 1,855.5. Stocks in Asia and the U.K. also climbed. Most European markets are closed today for the Christmas holiday.
U.S. stocks yesterday advanced, almost erasing half the S&P 500’s loss from the bear market that ended in March, as rallies in oil and copper drove gains in commodity producers.
