Opening a forex betting account

Do I need to make a deposit to open a betting account?

There's no need to make a deposit to open your gnuTrade betting account. When you sign up you automatically receive a free play money trading account which you can use to place forex bets straight away.

How do I make a deposit in my betting account?

Once you have signed up and logged in, you can make a deposit from the:

– Trading screen (click the 'fund my account' button)
– Member's page on the main site (click the 'fund my account' button)
– Cashier (click the 'Cashier' tab in the main menu from any page on the site)

We offer a number of payment and withdrawal methods, and you can make a deposit in Euros, GBP, and US dollars.

What is the minimum amount I can deposit before I can start betting?

The minimum deposit amount is only £20, €30 or $30.

Getting started with Forex betting

Do I need to download any forex trading software to start betting?

gnuTrade's forex betting platform is completely online so there is no software to download. You can place forex bets from any computer with an internet connection.

What are your minimum and maximum bet amounts?

The minimum and maximum bet amounts vary according to the type of forex bet you want to place.

Basic Bets:	£0.50, €0.50, $0.50	£10, €10 or $10
Per Point Bets:	£0.10, €0.10, $0.10 per point	£2, €2 or $2 per point
Back a Player Bets:	£1, €1, $1	£10, €10 or $10

When betting with play money (symbol g), maximum bet amounts are: g20 for per point trades and g50 for basic bets.

How quickly can I start betting with my forex account?

You can start placing play money bets as soon as you sign up for a free account. Signing up takes only a few seconds. When you make a deposit, you can start trading as soon as funds are visible in your real money account. This usually takes a few minutes using our standard deposit methods. Deposits made via bank transfer can take several days to proces (depending on your location and bank). We will update your betting account balance and contact you as soon as we receive your fund transfer.

Placing Forex Bets

What type of forex bets do you offer?

You can bet on forex markets using three types of bet.

Basic Bet:
This is a type of binary bet which is easier to place and more straightforward than bets offered by other trading companies. Instead of basing outcomes on complicated arbitrary spreads between 0 and 100, you simply bet on whether the markets will go up or down within a certain time frame. If you're right, you win.

Per Point Bet:
Per point betting is a classic way to trade forex markets, by 'buying' when you think the forex market price will rise, and 'selling' when the price goes up, to collect your profits. You can also place the bet in the opposite direction, if you think a forex price is going to fall.

Back a Player Bet:

Back a Player bets allow you to bet on the markets by backing existing traders who are using gnuTrade, instead of choosing the markets and betting directly yourself.

The Top 10 players list shows you successful traders (based on weekly portfolio returns) who are available for backing, and information about their market portfolio and betting performance. They may be trading with real or play money accounts, but you may back a play money trader with real money and still make a real money profit (or loss) based on their betting performance.

We currently offer financial betting on the following forex markets: Euro, GBP and Yen.

Can I bet on any other markets?

Yes. As well as forex markets, we offer financial betting on bond markets, stock indices and commodities.

Mobile Forex Trading

Do you offer mobile forex trading?

Yes. If you have an iPhone you can download our iPhone betting app and place Basic Bets on Forex markets. You can place real or play money bets, and you can also bet on other types of markets.

Do I need to download any mobile trading software to start betting with my iPhone?

You need to add the gnuTrade Betting app to the homescreen on your iPhone. This usually takes a few seconds.

How do I place mobile forex trades?

You can place forex bets and bets on other types of market using the touch screen facility on your iPhone. Choose the market you want to trade, choose your bet amount and the bet closing time. If you correctly predict the direction the market moves in, you win. Full instructions are available from the app.

How long can I use my forex practice account for?

You can use your free practice forex account for as long as you like until you are ready to place real money trades. You can also use your play money account at the same time as your real money account, if, for example, you want to try placing different types of bets, or explore markets you are not familiar with. If you run out of play money in your practice forex account, simply send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and we will top up your account balance.
