U.K.’s FTSE 100 Climbs Above 4,000 - 2009/04/03 01:15
Good day, ladies and gentlemen. I will keep the latest trend reporting about FTSE.
The U.K.’s FTSE 100 Index climbed above 4,000 for the first time in almost six weeks, led by banks and commodity producers amid optimism the worst of the recession may be over.
The benchmark FTSE 100 climbed for a third day, adding 169.36, or 4.3 percent, to 4,124.97. The gauge last closed above 4,000 on Feb. 19. The FTSE All-Share Index gained 4.3 percent, while Ireland’s ISEQ Index increased 3.4 percent.
The FTSE 100 has rebounded 17 percent from its 2009 lows as banks from Barclays to Citigroup Inc. reported positive starts to the year and U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner unveiled plans to rid financial firms of toxic assets.
