What is gnuTrade?

gnuTrade is a trading system that allows you to speculate on financial markets without having to actually own the underlying stocks, commodities, bonds or currencies. It provides a much simpler way to trade the markets, with a visually striking display, no paperwork, no brokers and no transaction fees or commissions to pay.

gnuTrade is designed for people with any level of financial experience who want an easy, enjoyable way to trade and learn about the markets. Many of the trading methods we offer have long been established in the UK and provided by financial spread betting firms. However, we also offer ways to make money through our unique 'basic' and 'back a player' bets. And, if you are new to trading or don't want to trade with real money, you can choose to trade live markets with play money.

Who is gnuTrade aimed at?

gnuTrade is for anyone above the age of 18 years who is interested in financial trading or learning about trading. Our system is designed to appeal to professional and experienced traders as well as people who have little or no experience, but want the opportunity to profit from market price fluctuations.

Our 'play money' feature makes gnuTrade ideal for anyone who wants to practice trading before risking their own money and for those who want to enjoy the experience of trading but don't want to use money at all.

gnuTrade is also ideal for people who are familiar with online gaming but are looking for original ways to bet and make money.

Are you a financial trading company or a gaming company?

In a way we're both. We operate under a strict Netherlands Antilles government licence, which enables us to offer customers financial betting without the costs associated with traditional city institutions. Profits are treated as gaming winnings so in many countries they are exempt from capital gains tax. Also, we do not charge commissions, transaction fees or trading taxes unlike brokers and city trading firms.

We created gnuTrade to combine the fun, enjoyable, visually appealing nature of gaming with the excitement of trading on the live world markets with real money. We think financial trading shares many of the features of good gaming. It requires perfect timing and risk taking, and provides rewards when you perform well.

Are you affiliated with any other companies?

Not at present. But we are very keen to form partnerships with companies who share our vision that financial trading should be more accessible to the general public. We also believe that by providing a high quality user-friendly product we can help people learn about and experience trading in a fun way.

Have you outsourced any parts of the business?

We have chosen to outsource parts of our business where we believe this offers a better user experience for our clients. For example, we use a company called Cyberluck, a trusted technical partner for our hosting needs. The company has many years of experience in providing ultra-reliable support to global database driven government and corporate applications.

We also use a reputable, independent accounting firm to manage our payment processing. This is because they have the credibility and experience in providing prompt payments to customers.

How do you differ from financial spread betting companies?

Unlike traditional spread betting companies and brokers, gnuTrade is based offshore. This means our costs are lower and we can pass these savings on to customers. We do not charge commissions, transaction fees or trading taxes unlike other trading firms.

We're also different because with every financial bet placed through gnuTrade, you will know exactly the maximum amount you could lose if the markets go against you. With other financial betting firms, your losses can be open-ended, so you can lose more money than you have in your trading account. Our ‘stop loss’ feature limits how much you can lose, but we don't limit how much you can win. What’s more, we don't require huge minimum deposits and complicated procedures to open an account.

The visual display screen of gnuTrade is another feature that sets us apart from other betting companies. Using simple colours and shapes, we make it much easier for you to compare markets and see how prices are moving at a glance. We also offer unique ways to make money, through our 'basic' bets and 'back a player' bets.

Who are your main competitors?

gnuTrade is currently the only financial trading company that offers live market prices and easy ways of betting through a unique game-like display format. Some people, however, might view our competitors as brokers, banks, other financial betting firms, and perhaps gaming companies.
