U.K. 10-year bonds gain - 2006/10/30 15:11
U.K. 10-year government bonds rose, heading for their longest winning streak in more than a month, on optimism a slowing U.S. economy will drag down global growth, boosting bonds worldwide.
Ten-year yields have dropped to the lowest in two weeks as bonds have rallied on optimism global inflation pressures will recede as U.S. economic growth weakens. An Oct. 27 report showed U.S. economic growth in the third quarter was the slowest in more than three years. The Federal Reserve on Oct. 25 left rates unchanged and reiterated that "inflation pressures" are likely to moderate.
