U.S. Stock-Index Futures Climb on Lower Oil - 2008/09/09 20:19
Good Day, Traders! Again the US is showing some signs of recovery, but just a little. I'm not that optimistic for the months to come.
U.S. stock-index futures advanced, pointing to a third straight day of gains, as a drop in oil eased concern that higher fuel costs will erode earnings at travel companies.
Carnival Corp., the world's largest cruise-line company, was poised to rise for a second day and US Airways Group added 4.8 percent as crude traded under $105 a barrel. Dell Inc. increased 2.9 percent after Chief Executive Officer Michael Dell bought $100 million of shares in the company. Toll Brothers Inc. and KB Home may be active after they were downgraded at Credit Suisse Group AG, which also advised clients to sell stocks following the rally yesterday spurred by the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac takeovers.
Futures on the Standard & Poor's 500 Index expiring in September advanced 4, or 0.3 percent, to 1,271 at 8:25 a.m. in New York. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures rose 33 to 11,538. Nasdaq-100 Index futures added 6.75 to 1,767.5.
